Memories of our Grandad

Created by Una 7 years ago
Grandad was one of the wisest people we know. This was clear through his quiet, genuine thirst for knowledge which he passed on to all of his grandchildren. He knew about the atoms of gold in the sun. About the well-told tales of the Bible and about obscure Greek myths. He knew how to make ice cream that rivalled the experts in Italy and how to do the Gangnam Style better than the rest of us.
That was one of the best things about Grandad. He was curious about everything, and open to it all. From classical guitar to Paul Simon, Shakespeare to the Simpsons; there was nothing that wasn’t worth considering. He gave everything a chance, and he never lost his curiosity. To us, that is one of the most special qualities, because a lot of people lose it as they get older.
But the most important thing to Grandad was his family. From early memories of musical chairs and the annual Santa Express to the infamous Hat Nights in Germany.Chasing Robin Hood through Sherwood Forest.Exploring the Tuscan hills and watching Flamenco dancing in the Andalusian sunset. And all of us together last year in Wales, which wouldn’t have been complete without one last Hat Night.
Grandad always said, God is Love. For him, love was everything, and this is a belief he shared with us all. That is how we have grown up. Loving and being loved, by an incredible, loving family.
So thank you Grandad for the love and the wisdom, and for the memories. And for gifting us with a box filled with these memories, caught forever in the videos and photos you lovingly took throughout our lives
